Heart couldn't "Beat It" no more

Call me Wacko...but I'm seriously saddened over Michael's death. He died of cardiac arrest. He may have been a sicko here in the end, but he's a musical icon and his music was genius. I have many childhood memories due to his music. Rest in Peace, Michael.

Gavin's Green Thumb

Gavin went out in the garden last week while Christopher was gone and took good care of our crop. He picked some cherry tomatoes for our dinner salad.

He harvested some yellow, white and red onions. Great for onion rings, hamburger and salad toppings.

Potatoes of all sizes! They were sooooo good as baked french fry wedges!

Our corn was looking a little sad, but we've definitely got ears and grilled corn on the cob on the 4th of July sounds pretty good to me!!! Our little garden is so fun! We look forward to next years when we build a huge raised garden bed!

Barn Yard Fun

The kids spent most of their weekend in the pool at the Barn.

Gavin got some good practice with his swimming skills.

He was doing really well swimming under water. Something that I refuse to do! I tried to capture it on video but didn't quite get it where he actually did for a while. Caden was in freak out mode....THAT you can tell from the video.

Gavin liked sporting his floating skills too. Again, more Caden meltdown.

Caden's meltdown. Screaming that ALL the pool toys were HIS. Needless to say, he was done with the pool and it was time to go home. He was exhausted and crabby from his eyes.

Yep. Caden started counting sheep the second we loaded up into the car for our journey home.

Once home the kids needed a bath. These little pool babies just had to color their water to look like a pool. Of course, once done with their baths, they wanted to go to the neighborhood pool. It's gonna be a wet summer!

Caden's Swamp Eyes

While at the pool last week Caden got hit in the eye by a pool toy. I didn't think much of it until he woke up a few days later with THIS:

NASTY!!! Caden woke up screaming that he couldn't open his eyes as the goop had sealed them shut. We quickly learned he had a bacterial infection that started from up under his left eyelid and was spreading. We went down to the Barn and Christopher's dad called in some heavy duty medicated eye drops. Poor kid.

He does NOT like having his medication as it stings and burns upon application. I have to pin him down with my knees and elbows and lift his eyelids with my thumbs and quickly apply. Many times he cries out the drops or wipes them away, but there was improvement. In fact, today, his eyes are looking almost perfect! Why is it always something with this child lately? It's been a LONG weekend. Did I mention Christopher's been outta town for the past week and wont be home until this next weekend? Between that, the A/C situation and Caden's eyes...I need a vacation!

Cookie Bling

We are in the process of having an A/C overhaul done in and out of our house (OUCH) so we spent the weekend at the Barn once again. Caden was too cute with Cookie and Granna's "pretties". Such a good dog.

Blessed Gage

We went down to Tyler for the weekend and to see baby Gage (Christopher's sister Cori's baby) be blessed. Granna bought Reese a cute little dress and Reese was only more than happy to model it for us.

Granna also made Reese a little necklace and matching bracelet. She sure was stylin' as she went to church! My little girlie, girl was in heaven!

At church, Caden crashed. In fact, all 3 of my kids fell asleep! It was a Sunday miracle!

Tyler, Scott, Trent with baby Gage, Bradley, Christopher and Phillip.

Trent with baby Gage...he's not dead, I promise.

Reese and I had our picture taken. We were twiners that Sunday. It wasn't planned, but cute nonetheless.

All the cousins. Carter, Clark, Gavin, Russell with Gage, Reese and Caden.

Always have to have a silly picture.

Barn Trip 6-6-09

We spent the weekend at the Barn. We brought the water slide and the kids with their cousins had a blast.

Pictures are all in random order, but here is Caden playing in the dirt. This is a favorite pastime for the children. Of course, Caden just got out of the water slide, so he was making himself pretty muddy.

All the playing outside in the sun and water exhausted little Reesie Pie out! She and Pa cozied up to Transformers (the movie) and they both promptly fell asleep.

It was also time to put up the big pool. The kids enjoyed playing in the water as it was filling up.

Upstairs, Caden and Clark were so cute trying their hand at a ping pong game. It was so cute hearing them try to hit the ball on the table and then their little voices saying "oh, man!"

Such a silly boy!

Caden looks like he's up to something with that bucket of water. I didn't stick around to find out!

I love Caden's little face while he's swimming. Just like me, with head always up!

Love this picture! Caden is such a stud!

I wanted to make a Strawberry Rhubarb pie. You can't find rhubarb to save your life around these parts, but I did manage to find just 2 sticks that were special ordered and made a Strawberry with a hint of Rhubarb pie. It was good, but not nearly as good as it could have been.

No Fear vs Barracuda's

Christopher had a game this past Friday night and we went out to cheer him on! Here he is with our friend Dave. Dave is responsible for recruiting Christopher. Christopher's be dying for a chance to play.

Reese took this picture while Christopher was resting along the bench. I don't know why I like it so much, it's an awkward shot, but he's just so hot at any angle!

Gavin and Caden sun kissed from all the outdoor play all day long.

Christopher is #18 and he is spectacular on the field! One of the best players on the team for sure.

I thought this picture was hilarious. Christopher's stance/pose just cracks me up.

Reese, Gavin and Caden were the best cheer leaders a man could ever want! They made up a chant "D. A. D. Exclamation Point" making an exclamation point with their arms. It was the cutest ever. Shoulda taken a video.

Caden got all excited that they had a "booster seat" for him. He'll be disappointed when they put a water/gatorade cooler there!

After the game the kids made a tunnel for Christopher our champ to run though.
The kids showing their love for their daddy.

Oh yeah, baby! All hot 'n sweaty! Love it!

The Graduate

Well, I've failed to mention that Gavin graduated from Kindergarten on June 2nd. Did I also not mention that I missed it? Yeah, the kids and I slept right though it. Ops! Let's hope his straight A smarts continue on to the first grade. Congrats buddy! We love you!
