She's Crafty: Patriotic Skirts

I turned what I had in this She's Crafty post to this:

Backside.

Front. Using "The Market Skirt" tutorial as a base/guide. I obviously did some things to it to make it my own.

I then added an elastic waist band and some red, white and blue tulle to the bottom hem.

And viola! Finished product. I was quite pleased with myself as this was my first skirt I have ever made and I have a really cheap, crappy sewing machine that makes every stitch twice as long!

This is Reese's 4th of July party skirt that she'll wear while we're up in Washington partying. I have a solid cream colored shirt that I will be adding some patriotic applique to AND a cute headband to match! Watch out! I've got the craft bug.

That same night I found some old patriotic-ish fabric from years ago and decided to whip up a more traditional Market Skirt that is longer and without pockets. This is Reese's Memorial Day/Weekend skirt.

Reese really wanted a skirt that she could wear now vs. the next holiday, so I also whipped out this skirt...the same night. I was up LAAAATE just so she could wear it to school the next day. The pockets proved to be a big challenge for me. I just couldn't get my machine to cooperate for me and if I had had a Serger, well, life and this skirt would have been a lot easier.

Reese's Pre-School Graduation

Reese had her little graduation/party at Jumpin' Jacks today. It's hard to believe my baby girl is a school aged kid going to Kindergarten now!

She sang a cute song about if all the world was lollipops and rainbows, or something like that. She's my best and most animated singer out of the three.

Then she received her cap and "smartie pants".

Finally, they sang a little song about Kindergarten, here she comes. Again too cute.

Reese with her teachers, Miss Brittney and Miss Anno. Reese looks wasted b.c they jumped BEFORE the ceremony. However, I have no excuse for Miss Anno and her modern day "Utah Claw".

Cupcakes were a hit. Actually, I have never had a better cupcake. The frosting was to die for. Literally. I must find out more about them.

Lastly, it was time to jump!

B4B: Game Seven

Gavin was short stop this game.

The rest of us were freezing cold. It had snowed that morning and just melted by the time his game started. Nice muddy field.

Reese's ensemble does indeed remind us that it was an end of May day for baseball!

And Bear was just cute trying to stay warm.

Next up, the "Championship Game"! YAY! That's tonight, stay tuned!

Bountiful Baskets Co-Op

I have wanted to get involved with a produce Co-Op for some time but could never find any in Texas that were close enough to make my while. Yay for finding Bountiful Baskets has 3 every week IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. Reese and I literally walked with our wagon to the pick up location this past Saturday and got some organic goodness for a fraction of the price.

I let Gavin and Caden have at the Coconut. We watched a how-to video online on how to open, juice and then make shredded coconut from our whole nut.

They made 3 holes on the 3 soft rounded spots on the bottom of the nut and then one on the top and watched it drain into our measuring cup.

Ended up coming out faster when we turned it right side up. We went from 1/3 cup of juice and thinking it was done to 1 and 1/3 cup!

Then it was time to break open the nut! That was Caden and Gavin's favorite part. Of course.

Finished (mostly) products!

The boys weren't too interested in getting the coconut meat off the shell or the shaving/grating it to be hydrated. But, it was fun learning how to use a new produce product we've never purchased before.

I'm really excited for more fresh produce in our house each week. When we move back to Texas, I'm so gonna get one started in my community. Yay!
