What was I thinking?

I must have forgot to turn on "my mom-to-a-toddler brain" this morning. During our one-on-one time, Caden and I did Playdoh...on a black folding table (good) that was laid on the carpet (bad).

Of course I'm gonna be finding this all afternoon and for days to come! Playdoh in carpet is the WORST!

Success!

We had our annual spring cleaning Garage Sale this past weekend. Rain had threatened to put a damper on sale, but held off allowing us great success! We sold everything we had wanted to get rid of and lots and lots of clothes. LOVE that feeling of cleaning out the house and making a little cash on the side. We were able to get the new over the range microwave for the kitchen and closet organization for the boys room that we wanted and have a decent amount of money left over. YES!

This is in addition to our bake sale the kids put on in their Pa's honor. The proceeds from the kids sale are going to Lymphoma Research Foundation in a donation in his name, from the kids. Gross sales from the kids sale was just shy of $70 bucks. Not bad for cookies, lemonade and the blood of Texas, DR. PEPPER sales. We did this during our last garage sale, but at that time, the proceeds went to our friend Connie and MS. It seems to be a big hit and more so when the kids are doing the selling!

She'll bite your head off!

One of Gavin's school projects for April was to create an insect of his choice from stuff we had around the house and fill out a little worksheet about the insect he chose. I suggested to Gavin that we do a butterfly or a lady bug, but silly me, my son needed something different. Apparently everyone else in his class were doing those types of insects. Christopher and Gavin got to task and came up with....a PRAYING MANTIS!

I think what attracted Gavin to the mantis was that she (female) will often rip the head off her mate (male) once done copulating. You can read all about why that is done here (under sexual cannibalism). I mean, this is a family blog so, we kept Gavin's innocents and just informed his that the mom's like to rip the daddy's head's off to make babies. Gavin LOVED that!
He and Christopher did a good job on the mantis. Below are some of the items used in making his insect:

In case you can't read his Kindergarten handwriting he used a wire hanger (which we found out in the middle of the street), egg carton, pipe cleaner, cardboard, green paint (left over from my laundry room makeover) and bottle caps from our trip to the beach.

Needless to say, Gavin's insect project was a hit and the boys had a lot of fun working together. Christopher can't wait to get it back home (it stays in the classroom for a bit) and display it proudly somewhere. Maybe he'll have to take it to work and put it on his desk! lol.

I think it's time

Yep, when Caden's room starts looking like a toy explosion just threw up all over the floor on a daily basis, it's time to take action. Garage Sale time!! I will show no toy mercy this time around!

Nocturnal Home Security

The other night Christopher and I were playing Monopoly on the 360 (we do this a lot lately) and got really caught up in the game. It got late. Caden I guess came out of his room and laid down in front of the couch. We probably would have never known if it weren't for the sound of his laser gun (as seen here as well) going off....WHILE he was sleeping! Must have been some fierce dreaming! So cute!

Reese's hot new ride

We took Reese for her first outside ride on her new bike for Monday night FHE activity. She's a pro!
Caden on his Fred Flintstone trike and Reese gettin' hydrated for the long bike ride around the block.

And she's off!

Checkin' the neighborhood sights on her new wheels with Caden following close behind.

Lastly, Reese and Caden riding with Reese busting out her Fancy Nancy vocabulary..."Viola!"

Easter Egg Hunt at Home

The kids ready to begin their Easter Egg hunt! Where Caden? Can you find him in this picture?

He is not a happy camper when he wakes up (takes after his mom) but at the same time he wanted candy...just didn't want to have to work for it.

Gavin was a good little egg hunter!

You did well my child!

Caden finally worked up the mood to grab some eggs before they were all gone. Gavin and Reese were even generous enough to share! Can you believe it??!

There was an egg for each child from the E.B. that took them on a little hunt for their prize. This is the only picture of have of it all. Gavin with his new Arcade game that has Feeding Frenzy on it for the Xbox 360, Caden his very own tee-ball set and Reese a Wal*Mart special...a new Disney Princess bike. She has been asking for one for at least a year!

And if you have noticed Reese's awesome fashion sense and saw the nice socks with dress shoes, it's b.c of this:
She cut her foot up pretty bad out in the backyard and needs to wear socks constantly and supposedly those shoes feel the best.

Reese's MDS Easter Egg Hunt

One day I'll get caught up on my blog! Last week Reese had her Easter Egg Hunt at her preschool. She's had lots of practice the past two years as a sibling at Gavin's. Last years here (I can't believe how little Caden was just a year ago) and the year before last (Reese was so cute and little!).

Reese with some girls from her class singing Easter songs while waiting for the egg hunt to begin. It looked as if it were going to rain, so the egg hunt was moved into the Kindergarten classroom.

Caden was more than ready and knew exactly what to do! In his mind he was living out his very own Willy Wonka Candy Land!

Reese with her BFF Madison one their way to the Egg Hunt!

I've gotta sit here and listen to instructions?

And then the hunt was on!! Reese was too fast for pictures!

Caden had to check each egg and make sure there was some sort of candy in it before going on.

He was thrilled beyond belief to have found an egg with a toy ball in it! BONUS!

Egg hunt is finished and now it's time to check their bounty.

I think this picture of Caden is funny. They way he has his head makes his head look like an Easter egg!

Showing off their basket of goodies.

I tried to get a shot of the kids and Madison before leaving to go downstairs where the Easter goodies were being served...but the kids where too anxious to get outta there.

Caden already on a sugar high, looking for more chocolate on the way home.

Reese found a super prize of a wooden cross as a key chain in one of her eggs. How did they know that she collects key chains on her backpack? Perfect! Only it's upside down baby girl.

Hotel Life

What I mostly like during our little trips were the moment in the hotel. Why? B.c the kids stayed entertained whilst I either watched my shows or slept! It was awesome! Just relaxing and letting the kids do their thing. Which in this case Caden and Reese engaged in their favorite pastime...dish washing. Oh, and let's not forget that it's housekeeping's job to do my daily chores! Yay!

Caden washed and Reese dried. Good system. I remember having that system with Christopher when we first got married. Dishwashers, a modern miracle for this woman!

Viola! Housekeeping will be so thrilled that we did our own dishes!

Gavin doing what he does best...playing all sorts of games on the computer.

And Caden doing what he does best...running and bouncing off the walls with energy.

Can you guess the kids favorite part besides jumping on the bed and watching cartoons all night?

Pool time!!

Caden liked to use his float noodle to capture water and then blow it out at people. Filling up.

Time to blow!

Ah, yes! Pure satisfaction getting someone smack in the face! Or anywhere for that matter.

Daddy giving Gavin a submarine ride. Christopher swims under water and Gavin rides on his back.

Reese just swimming along her merry way.

Gavin as cute as ever. Reminds me of a picture from 3 years ago in this post.

They would start the night like this, all in one bed. By morning, Reese would be on the chair and ottoman, Caden on the floor or at the foot of the bed and Gavin snoozing away all comfy in the bed. Nite, nite, y'all!
