Grandma's Mini Me

My SIL was over at my house the other day checking in on my progress with my skirts I'm making for Reese. Meanwhile, we hear a bird noise that is synonymous with a crowing sound my mom/Grandma will make. It was Hudson, my nephew, doing his best Grandma impersonation. This will be hilarious for those that know what I'm talking about!

B4B: Game Six

Gavin at bat doin' his thing. He's gotten a lot better at bat and coach has even started through fast balls!

On second base, ready to run the bases home.

Run home, baby, run!

G-man 1st Grade Pics

I didn't order any pictures from the school this year but I did manage to take a picture of the pictures they sent home with Gavin for us to preview.

B4B: Fifth Game

Gavin playing 3rd base this game. Ready for action.

While Reese and Caden play tag with friends.

Gavin warming up at bat.

Gavin weakly making a hit, but does manage to get to 1st base.

On 3rd, ready and poised to run home with the next hit from his teammate.

I caught Gavin sitting on the job out in left field, doodlin' around with his glove.

Look at how dry my hands get while in Utah. I lotion my hands/body several times a day and it just doesn't matter...I've got "old lady hands" as Reese says. I miss the humidity of Texas. Is that possible? Lotion was an after thought and only applied as sunscreen, now, a necessity before for your old lady hands. And I need a tan, but you'll have to cut me a break on that one since I haven't seen the sun in 7 months.

Making Lemons into Lemonade

Or end of May snow into homemade snow slushies! Even better!

I looked out the window...

and what did I see?
This picture was taken this morning just a few minutes ago while I was getting the kids ready for school. I just thought it was raining but Reese informed me it was snowing and I had a melt down. I just can't do Utah anymore.

Seriously, I can't even read my friends blogs (in Texas) anymore b.c I get too homesick! Help me! How can I get over this and live a life that isn't depressed and yearning for our home in Texas? I have to live here until June 2013!

Any advice? Do I need to be medicated to make it? I'm trying to get involved as much as I can with my community and church friends, but let's face it....it isn't Texas and things/people are different.

I'm tired of blogging about depressing stuff. Welcome to Sariah's hard knock life! Gavin gets out of school in 3 weeks and I will be making like a bird and flying far, far away. But until then, I gotta go get all our snow crap out of "the box" that hasn't been put away for the spring/summer yet, cuz you know, it's only the 24th of MAY!

She's Crafty, She's Just My Type

Tribute to my 'ol Beastie Boys days!
My SIL, Chelsea, has infected me with the crafty sewing bug again.
Thanks to the hundreds of online tutorials, I'm making my baby girl some crafty skirts/dresses.

Instead of $50 bucks a pop for a fun craftily sewn skirt ( I love Matilda Jane), I have in the works 4 skirts for less than that $50! Christopher is a happy man! More to come...soon! Thanks Chelsea!

Daybreak Lake Canoeing

This past Saturday while Reese and I were at my SIL's attempting to get crafty, Christopher and Gavin took advantage of the weather, the lake, and our HOA access to free canoes and row boats.

Gavin had gotten into a skate boarding accident earlier in the day so, he was sporting the one shoe. Still cute as ever!

Gavin rowed while Christopher steered in the back.

Here's a cute video of my boys out on the lake. So fun and we couldn't be happier that the weather is starting to let up so we can take advantage to all that our community and Utah have to offer! It only took 6 months! I can't believe we've been here over 6 months now!

sk8er gurl reesie cutie

Yesterday we went over to some friends for dinner and Reese was just too cute riding her Disney Princess skateboard there. Hallelujah for the Spring 70's!!

Under Where, Bear?

Caden often has to empty his underwear drawers and put every last one on, at the same time.

He thinks it's so funny and he wants you to try and spank his bum b.c "it's too hard like a pillow". If that makes sense.

Because it's such a regular occurrence, I had to get it down on the blog for posterity.

Castle Park of the West

We found a park with the likeness of our favorite Texas "castle park" the other day. The kids were pretty excited, although not sure what's going on with them in these pictures.
My kids take such awesome pictures! I feel for you, Rebecca! If I had a camera that didn't take 5 seconds after I tell them to say cheese, it might help. Maybe...

B4B: Fourth Game...kinda

Gavin's baseball season supposedly ends tomorrow. However, they have only played 3 of their 8 games! Due to some bizarre nasty May weather, his games have been canceled and have only now begun to have weather that we can make up the games.

We got to his fourth game last Thursday only to find out they canceled the game last minute due to lightning and sporadic rain fall. (Good thing you didn't make the trip out, Julia!) We now have a game every day of the week this week. I hope the rain that is forecast for this week doesn't further dampen and prolong our season!

Gavin ended up playing spider-man climbing up the soccer nets. He's getting quite discouraged. Hopefully, the sun really will come out tomorrow...and we can play some ball!

It Finally Came Around

Spring that is...and the ice cream truck! Let's pray that it sticks around...

Wheeler Farm Fieldtrip

Reese's preschool class went to Wheeler Historic Farm in SLC for a little field trip. It was fun being in the middle of the city but on a farm.

Reese was able to ride a wagon around the farm to see all the animals. She and her little BFF Cambree were in separable. It was cute.

They were able to watch how they milk their cows by hand (the old fashioned way) every day at 5 am and then again at 5 pm.

It think the highlight though was feeding the ducks, geese and a few birds around the lake.

I brought Caden and his cowboy boots. He too enjoyed the bird feedings the most.

There is a tree on the property that was once struck by lightning and split in two and has since grown into the perfect climbing/tree house. Bear had a blast climbing all over it! Don't have many things like mature trees at home. He was in heaven.

Reese's preschool class with her teachers, Ms Anno and Ms Brittney posing in front of the lightning tree.

Reese and Bree in the little play house by the lightning tree.

Reese cheesin' it on the lightning tree.

We had lunch after the outing with some friends at the farm. While enjoying lunch, there was a strong burnt/melting tire smell. Come to find out...

There was a car on FIRE in the parking lot! We snapped this picture just before the entire car was engulfed in flames and the fire department came to put out the fire. Fortunately, we were lucky b.c we literally almost parked right next to the very spot, but I felt (HG?) that I should move the car to a different lot. Our friends weren't so fortunate and were stuck at the farm until everything was under control.

But, seriously, how does a car catch on fire in a parking lot? Still don't know what happened. Made for an interesting end to our outing though.

Close Encounter of the Duckie Kind

Reese and Caden are home with me this morning. They opened the door to see if they wanted to go outside and play. And what do you know, they found a duck sitting on our porch. They quickly came back inside and got some bread and water to feed the duck. Just before they went back outside, Reese asked if I spoke "duck", I did my best donald duck impression and now I speak duck in her eyes. I didn't think the duck would eat two whole pieces of bread and certainly not drink from a bowl...but it did!

A short video of the duck eating what's left on the porch and drinking from water bowl. It did a little quacking and the kids were convinced it was calling for its friends. Just after the video was shot, we left the front door open and the duck started to walk inside our house. Caden starting running upstairs wanting to get the bathtub ready for him to swim. I shooed the duck out however, as I just don't do duck in my house.

B4B: Third Game

Ha, ha! For Gavin's third game all I got were these pictures of him running from 1st to 3rd. Just. too. cold. They did well though despite the cold.
It was a balmy 38 degrees with wind chill not factored in. I mean seriously, I never knew baseball to be a winter sport. The good news is, "this is not a normal May for Utah". I'm so glad we could be a part of it! Hopefully tomorrows game will be better weather, but the forecast is rain and in the 40's. Yeeehaw!

Happy Grandparent's Day

This is a post that only a grandparent could love! Gavin's school celebrates "Grandparents Day" with a big performance, professional photos and classroom refreshments. It's a big deal. Too bad both of G's grandparents live at least 1000 miles away.

Gavin singing some song about "always glad when grandma/pa come".

Singing something about "each of us is a flower" and the kids mess up pretty bad towards the end it gets funny.

Gavin making sure Gma and Pa's know that "4 hugs a day are the minimum".

"What's more American" than Gavin? During this song all the grandparents that have ever served in the armed forces came up were honored for their service. It would have been really special to have Pa Haslam there for that honor. Unfortunately, he was in the hospital recovering from his Ostomy surgery.

Gavin and "if i..then would be".

"I'm gonna mail myself to you" Gma and Pa.

Gavin glad he's got a "grandparent just like you".

My handsome little G after the performance. Gavin loves all 4 of you and considers him a lucky grandson! He misses and love you all!
